PG teaching, Research, Publication, Conferences etc. Initially M.Sc. course included only physical, inorganic and organic chemistry but the overhauling of the syllabus in 1998 has included other disciplines like Biochemisty, Spectroscopy, analytical chemistry, Medicinal chemistry, Industrial fermentation in M.Sc. Syllabus.

SEMINARS/SYMPOSIA ORGANISED
  1. Seminar on Spectroscopy organised in 1988.

  2. A lecture series on Molecular Symmetry held in 1994

  3. Workshop on Thermodynamics held in 1998.

  4. Lectures by renowned scientists held annually under the banner of Chemical Society.

  5. A lecture on Fullerenes held in 1999. Weekly seminar by students.

 RESEARCH PUBLICATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT

The Research activities centres mainly around Co-ordination chemistry, synthetic organic chemistry, Chemical Kinetics and environmental pollution hazards. Though there is no direct teaching cum demonstration course for Ph.D. students, the department conducts Pre-registration and pre-submission viva-voce examination for research workers. The faculty members has a no. of research papers to their credit. The department has a team of ten teachers. They are very dedicated to their job. The ideas, vision and devotion of the teachers have motivated the students in proper way which is reflected in the results and placement of the students in job market. The generous donation of some eminent persons like : 1) Prof. J.N. Chatterjea, Former Head, Department of Chemistry, Patna University, Patna; 2) Prof. A. Mishra, Former Head, Department of Chemistry, T.M. Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur; 3) Prof. Y. Thakur, Former Head of this Department has maid the departmental library quite enriched. Recently, the department has sent a proposal to the university to start M.Sc. course in Bio-Chemistry on self finance scheme basis. Teachers of the Department have a large number of research papers published in reputed journals to their credit.

ALUMNI IN PROMINENCE IN ANY SPHERE OF LIFE

Several ex-students of the Department are placed in several national and international research organisations.
